Director Biography - Kenneth Gyang

Kenneth has worked with the BBC and was an AFS Fellow at University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. He has been selected for the Berlinale Talent Campus, Durban FilmMart and Rotterdam Film Lab. His current project, El Dorado Road, has undergone development at Ouaga Film Lab and EAVE Producers Workshop.

He is an Institute of International Education`s GTLF grant recipient.

Director Statement

In this hilarious black comedy, Stevo’s hunger for superstardom is typical of many young men in Lagos, as is his affiliation with a gang of the notorious ‘area boys’ that run the streets. In a city where everyone wears a mask of some kind, Stevo’s double life as a musician/criminal fits the mould.
