THE SHADOW VERSE

Catherine Thorne has spent decades fleeing the whispers of her family’s abandoned manor. When her estranged father dies, he leaves her a key and a final warning: never open THE SHADOW VERSE, a forbidden grimoire tied to their bloodline, and never read it backwards.

With nothing left to lose, Catherine returns to the house she once escaped. Hidden within its walls, she discovers the cursed book and begins whispering its spells. Revenge. Fortune. Power. Her life transforms overnight, but each wish fractures the ancient seals imprisoning something that should never be freed.

Her fatal mistake comes when she performs a fertility ritual in reverse, unknowingly releasing the spirit of Justina Thorne, an ancestor burned alive for witchcraft who is desperate to return to the living.

When her daughter Theresa is born, the presence awakens within her.

As the child’s behavior turns increasingly violent and possessed, Catherine is forced to confront the truth. The book was never the curse. The curse is her bloodline...

Writer Statement

I've always been drawn to stories that blur the line between reality and the unexplained. With a background in Criminology and a lifelong fascination with the occult, psychological and supernatural horror became a natural creative path.

Much of my writing is inspired by family history, folklore, and real experiences. I am interested in how secrets, belief, trauma, and guilt can echo across generations and shape the present.

James Wan and Jason Blum have been two of my biggest inspirations as a writer. I admire the way they have elevated horror beyond simple scares, creating films that combine atmosphere, emotion, mythology, and unforgettable characters. Through Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, they have transformed modern horror, proving that the genre can be intelligent, emotional, commercially successful, and culturally significant. Their ability to create unforgettable stories while continually pushing horror into new territory has had a profound influence on my own aspirations as a screenwriter.
