THE ROBOT’S TEAR
In a near future, human-like robots live among humans as part of a secret experiment hidden from the public. When Derec, a domestic service robot, begins to develop emotions, he discovers that the system designed to control him has already marked him for termination.
As his creator Claire and her son Tom search for a way to save him, Derec forms an unexpected bond with Mira, another robot experiencing similar changes. Forced to flee across borders while being hunted by the very people who created them, they uncover a truth that challenges the boundary between programming and humanity.
Their journey becomes a fight not only for survival, but for the right to feel, choose, and exist. Along the way, the world witnesses something believed impossible: the first tear ever shed by a machine.

Seyed Ebrahim Alborzi Darehria is a Finnish-based screenwriter originally from Iran. His work blends science fiction with deep human emotion, exploring questions of consciousness and identity. With “The Robot’s Tear,” he presents a story where technology meets compassion, and a robot’s awakening challenges the meaning of being alive.
“The Robot’s Tear” was born from a simple question: can a machine feel compassion? Through this story, I wanted to explore the fragile border between logic and emotion — where a human teaches a robot what it means to care, and in return, discovers his own humanity.
