THE PALAZZO
The diary of a young nun written in 1910 is the starting point of the history of the film. The nun went to Sicily, in Mirabella Imbàccari to help women in their bobbin lace work. The Princess Angelina gave the nuns her Palazzo, now the nuns give the Palazzo to Fondazione di Comunità di Messina: it will became a cultural and educational centre, a difficult project in a land suffering for emigration.

I was asked to tell the last part of the story of Palazzo Paternò Biscari in Mirabella Imbàccari, a small village in the center of Sicily, since when nuns were invited from Princess Angelina to get there and gere the Palazzo, after the decision she took to became herself a nun (her husband, at the same time, became a priest). I found the diaries the nuns wrote: the story of the trip, from Rome to Mirabella that a young nun wrote, is fresh and rich in enthusiasm. That's the stating point. The nins teached the "tombolo" to the women of the village, that became a peculiarity of the place until industrial made laces arrived.
Now the Palazzo is gered by Fondazione di Comunità di Messina, it's a cultural and educational center.
