THE NAIROBI SHUFFLE

Nairobi Shuffle" follows John, a naive and innocent man from a rural area, as he navigates the harsh realities of Nairobi city life. Arriving with wide-eyed excitement, John quickly becomes a target for various con artists and criminals, losing his phone, money, and even his maize within a short span.

His misfortunes begin at the bus station where he witnesses a phone snatching and is then abandoned by a woman he tries to help. He struggles to communicate with the locals due to his rural accent and is further exploited by a luggage handler who disappears with his belongings. A series of unfortunate encounters ensues: a con artist steals his wallet, a child runs off with his money after promising to buy him airtime, and a boda boda rider steals his phone after offering a ride.

Lost and desperate, John encounters Makata, a local hustler involved in drug dealing and other criminal activities. Makata initially appears to offer help but soon takes advantage of John's vulnerability, inducting him into his gang. John, who had travelled to Nairobi to find work and send money home to his mother, is drawn into this criminal lifestyle as a means of survival.

The film then shows John's gradual transformation over seven months, from a naive villager to a hardened member of Makata's gang. He learns the tricks of the trade, participating in robberies and other illegal activities. He even tries to improve his appearance by buying new clothes, which leads him to a tailor named Mulili.

John develops a connection with Mulili, a hardworking woman with aspirations of becoming a fashion designer. He helps her out of a tight spot by buying her some much-needed supplies. This interaction hints at a possible redemption arc for John.

Meanwhile, tensions rise within Makata's gang. Biggy, the apparent leader, grows impatient with Makata and Godana. There's a hint of a power struggle and potential betrayal within the group. The police are also on their trail, adding to the growing danger.

The synopsis ends with John's past catching up to him when a police officer recognizes him from an earlier incident. This sets the stage for a potential climax where John will have to face the consequences of his choices.....
