I have been to quite a few festivals the last few years and I got to say this... Maybe film festivals of today should be called Movie Festivals because they show nothing but HD videos. If a festival is not going to show FILMS SHOT ON FILM, they should not be calling themselves film festivals. Or at least, have a separate film category, to justify the title of "film festival." Film and HD are not the same thing...
If you want to be like the filmmaking masters of the past, then do like they do - SHOOT ON FILM!
Yeah, I get it, the HD video invasion is trying to take over the world. People are conditioned to shoot video. Once again, for the sensitive types, I'm not totally bashing video; it does have its place in the world, I just feel that it has no place in cinema. I want my FILMS to reflect true cinematic art, both in style and entertainment value.
Heck, I'm not even sure judges or movie goers even understand what REAL FILM is anymore... People are programmed to think video is the standard format in movie making now days. It's a depressing time for REAL filmmakers.
I want to create a cinematic experience and I don't need a big budget, a movie star, a social cause, zombies, vampires, or super heroes to achieve it.
I often wonder though... Will I have to relinquish my artistic and entertainment values to get noticed? Nope! Not going to do it!
Here is my art! SHOT ON FILM in my home town! I support the local filmmaking community.
Enjoy the cool little flick we created. NO AI.
