J. BARRICK GRIFFITHS, co-writer of the award-winning screenplay “ONE MORE MOUNTAIN “ (WINNER – Feature Screenplay – Hollywood Jumbo Screenwriting Festival – 2020), is the writer of unproduced screenplays “SIMON SAYS” (WINNER – Chicago Script Awards – Best Thriller – 2022; and “FRAMED: The Terry Farmer Murder” (WINNER – Best Script Awards - London 2023 – BEST AMERICAN SCREENPLAY) and (WINNER – Montemarte Movie Extravaganza Awards – BEST SCREENWRITER.)
He is most noted for his work as a music copyist, orchestrator, and arranger for Barry Manilow for over 26 years, having worked on 20-plus albums together. He is credited under the pen name Jonathan Barrick as one of the three arrangers on the worldwide televised special “Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Celebration” and as J. Barrick Griffiths for Mark Anthony’s HBO special, “The Concert at Madison Square Garden.”
As a copyist, his work has been performed by international artists, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Henry Mancini, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, and Amy Grant. His arrangements have been performed by Tony Bennett, Whitney Houston, Peggy Lee, Mel Tormé, and many others.
Applying the same discipline that has carried him more than three decades in the highly competitive music industry, he now spends 8-10 hours each day on another love of the arts. As a novelist and screenwriter since 2016, he has created an original detective saga based on his fictional detective, Chase MacCrae, which includes 3 novels and 5 screenplays featuring the dynamic hero. He has also written a fourth novel and its accompanying screenplay – “The Voice” - based on a true story involving Stefano Magaddino and the 1960’s Buffalo Mob, and 15 other screenplays including four scripts co-written with others and one script ghost written for a group of writers.
After more than 3 decades in the competitive world of professional music, I'm turning my attention toward a new career in screenwriting. So far, so good with three wins in such a short time. Thank you for your consideration.
