THE DAWN

It is a story of a woman who suffers from dementia and the related sufferings of the husband in dealing with the daily trauma that come along with it.

Mr. Phukan, a retired professor lives with his wife Mrs. Phukan. As the illness settles, Mrs. Phukan does not remember anything, not even her husband. Due to her violent nature, no maids stick to work. It is the husband who does all the household chores. Amidst all these one day Mrs. Phukan leaves the house. The husband finds her soon but meets with an accident. Hearing this, their only married daughter flies down from the US to be beside her parents. Before going back, she manages to arrange a young girl and a boy as domestic helps.

Initially reluctant, Mr Phukan keeps them as he is disabled now. Both the kids carry household activities. He feels bad for them as he believes that it is no time for them to do this. Mr. Phukan slowly makes up his mind and sends them back to their uncle, oblivious of the latter’s wrong intentions.
Mr. Phukan is emotionally so drowned that he decides to kill self and is wife. But while doing so the conversation with his wife, strikes him with the realization that such patients need to be dealt with love and care. A new ray of hope thus sets in towards the end. In the meantime the children also return who had to escape the wrath of their uncle. A new dawn awaits the family with fresh hope and new life.

Director Biography - BISWAJEET BORA

Biswajeet Bora hails from a very small village of Assam, (North – East India). After
his graduation he came to Mumbai and started his career as a film Editor in
Mumbai.
During his struggling days he met 14 times national award winner and
internationally acclaimed world famous filmmaker Jahnu Barua during the editing
period of his acclaimed film “Tora’s love. Mr. Barua was impressed with 22 years old
Biswajeet and gave him an offer to work with him as an assistant director. From
then Biswajeet Bora worked with him for almost 6 years for his much acclaimed
projects till making his first directorial debut film “A Thousand Fireflies
Sparkle…”which was screened at several international film festivals such as “Third
Eye Asian Film Festival”, “Hyderabad International Film Festival” and “Thrissure
International Film Festival”. He formed a production house “Quatermoon
Productions” in Mumbai and produced many documentaries, TV series, Music
videos etc. He made his first feature in Hindi titled “AISA YEH JAHAAN” which is
supposed to be India’s first carbon neutral film. The team planted 670 tree all over
Maharashtra and Assam to make it carbon neutral.
In 2016 he made Assamese blockbuster movie – BAHNIMAN which was one of the
biggest opening films in Assam.
In 2017, he made two films – one is PHEHUJALI and other is RAKTABEEZ, a
commercial film to be released in May 11 this year.
