Once upon a time ... there was a small school in a small wood.
The children of the PRIMARY SCHOOL OF THE WOODS of Nerviano (MI) tell in music (with the original song "IL CONCERTO DEL BOSCO") why their school has this name ... and why its students have a musical soul.
It is all due to a little gnome, who long ago got lost in this completely wooded area, looked around lost and began to tremble.
A gnome who is afraid of the woods? Yes, this is a strange story!
The forest, when you are alone, is scary, especially at night: you can hear all the noises, the sounds of the animals, the wind that passes through the branches of the trees ... But the little gnome has a brilliant idea: he sings and. .. your fear passes!
After a while he meets a small hare, also lost in the great woods and frightened; so they decide to sing together and ... magic! The strength of their sonorous union defeats fear.
But in the great wood a child has also been lost: then all three characters start singing together and ... Trallallalero trallallalà ... the fear disappears. The whole forest becomes song and the little animals, having come out of their lairs enchanted by the magical melodies, participate in the concert, warbling and waving their arms.
Dawn is coming: the light and the sound atmospheres of the concert of the magical creatures of the forest envelop all the characters in a warm embrace: fear is definitively defeated and everyone lives in serenity.

Director Biography - Giulia Morlacchi

I am a primary school teacher, musician and passionate about ICT.
In recent years I have deepened the issues related to Autism Spectrum Disorders and Specific Learning Disorders, developing learning paths and strategies. alternatives, with the use of music and ICT. I apply a cross-media and multisensory metadisciplinary teaching based on skills, with extensive use of expressive and communicative arts. I acquired a rich experience related to the educational activities of: Digital Storytelling, Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality, Educational Robotics, Coding, 3D Modeling / Printing, Theatrical Animation and Music Practice. Music, artistic expression and multimedia are for me essential channels of communication and systematic methods of approach in every educational path, for the purpose of truly inclusive and motivating teaching.

Director Statement

The original song "IL CONCERTO DEL BOSCO" was composed by the children (with the supervision of the teacher) on the basis of the study on the structure of the Italian folk song and aims to represent in music the emotions expressed by the story.
It is a slow mazurka, structured on four stanzas of 16 measures, interspersed with a refrain with 8 doubled measures.
The minor key - C minor - of the verse was chosen to represent fear; in the last quarter of the verse the modulation in E flat major expresses the passage to the feeling of tranquility of the protagonists. The choir is entirely composed in a major key, to express the state of serenity achieved thanks to the sharing of the musical event.
