Director Biography - Mike Messier

Mike Messier is an 84 Award-winning producer, screenwriter, Director, TV host, and actor. He is also a playwright, Acting Coach, Live Event Host, and guest speaker. He has written novels such as the gothic horror A Distance from Avalon and the coming-of-age Fight or Play Basketball. Both of these stories have also been written as feature film screenplays.

Mike's other screenplays include Also Ran, which won Best Screenplay at San Angelo Revolution Film Festival 2023 (Texas), Bad Girls with Good Tattoos (also available as a novel), God is My Best Friend, and Chris and the Coffee Girl.

Mike also wrote the graphic novel Wrestling with Sanity and Art and War of Directing Student, Low & No Budget Movies: A Primer for Creating and Participating in Independent Films, television & web series.

As an Actor, Mike has shared scenes with Meryl Streep & Elisabeth Shue in Hope Springs, Mario Van Peebles, Wesley Snipes & Cybill Shepherd (as her son) in Hard Luck, and Eric Roberts and Jason London in Mr. Birthday.

Mike founded "Avalonia Festival of Short Films etc." in 2017, which continues to run an annual Live Event and website. He later added Avalonia Photography Competition, All Comedy Short Film Festival, All Horror Short Film Festival, and All Documentary Short Film Festival.
