TGX

After the Carnation Revolution, Portugal became a democracy and opened itself to the world. One of its consequences was the spread of erotic and pornographic films. This documentary tells the story of how these films arrived at Theatro Gil Vicente, an emblematic cultural venue of Barcelos.

Director Statement

TGX is a project born out of a necessity to make a documentary film, which I had never done before. While I was attending an exposition about the centenary of Theatro Gil Vicente, a cinetheatre from Barcelos that regularly holds film screenings and other artistic events, I discovered that it used to show pornographic films in the 70s. This was the intriguing fact that led me to try to know more about this particular period of its history and, coupled with the desire to make a documentary film, create this project.
