Director Biography - Alison Vega

Alison Vega is a Chicago-based artist and animator. She received an AAS in Animation from the College of DuPage in May 2021, and she previously earned a BS in Biology and an MS in Computer Science at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

Alison has worked on a variety of animation projects including 2D, 3D, stop motion, and experimental animation. Her signature style blends sweet and adorable characters with lighthearted and humorous stories, and many of her animations are set in a world that has a whimsical or magical theme.

Director Statement

Switcho is a story about two cats, Kate and Daphne, who experience an adventure of a lifetime when they wander into a room in which they are not allowed.

Switcho was inspired by real-life events. As the pet parent of two young rescue cats, I often have to give them gentle reminders to stay out of the hazardous laundry room. And on occasion their personalities interchange leaving me to wonder if they have performed a “switcho” of their own.

This animation has a gray tone color scheme with pops of color on items which are associated with magic. All of the artwork for my project was made in Adobe Photoshop.
