Native Detroiter Steve Blackwood is an actor, writer, and director known for his work on the TV soap opera DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and feature films MACHINE GUN PREACHER and ED GEIN, as well as his short films STUCK, MEET THE AUTHOR, PRIVATE, and PEABRAIN (2024). He has guest starred on multiple TV shows and starred on stage in OLEANNA. Mr. Blackwood studied with Uta Hagen in New York and teaches her Method to actors in Boston and across the country.
Blackwood Productions presents SWEEPS WEEK, a new short comedy film written, directed, and produced by Steve Blackwood (PRIVATE; DAYS OF OUR LIVES; PEABRAIN). A clueless TV Producer makes a life altering executive decision concerning one of his loyal actors in this comedy based on Blackwood's days on a network soap opera. “Creating my own films has been the highlight of my career, and to work again with Brian J. McDonald and Halle Curley was an extra treat.”
Our last three films were PEABRAIN (an official selection of the New Hampshire Film Festival, a semi-finalist for Flickers RI International Film Festival, and a winner in the London International Filmmakers Festival, Paris Film Awards, and Alternative Film Festival), PRIVATE (festival wins include Berlin International Art Film Festival, SENE Film Festival, and Paris Film Awards) and STUCK (a nominee in the Houston Comedy Film Festival, an official selection of the Boston International Film Festival, and a winner in the London Indie Short Festival, Shawna Shea Memorial Film Festival, and Star City Film Festival). The comedy film, SPICE, in which Steve starred, was selected for the Sedona International Film Festival and won the SENE Film Festival.
Thank you for considering our film for your festival. We would be honored by your selection.
