Writer Statement

My goal for my first feature script, Surfmen Of the pacific is to shed light on the heroic Native American Indians that served in the U.S. Life Saving Service in the treacherous waters of the Pacific Northwest as the Government stole their land and sent them to prisons.
This hits close to home for Myself. My grandfather Chuck Todd was the Chief of the Ottawa Indian tribe, a federally recognized tribe that faced many hardships during their forced treck to the reservations. I also Served Ten years in the U.S. Coast Guard helping save lives and protect the coast so I can relate to this amazing story. I can assure that people have never heard about this wonderful and yet sad piece of Native American history.
