Salsa, Endurance and Rock 'N' Roll. 20 Years Of Superlitio
In the convulsive streets of Cali (Colombia), in the mid-nineties, five friends, from different independent rock bands of the city, met to create a new rock band.
The idea began to materialize in the only bar in Cali that could be maintained beyond a year on the cake, and that was indispensable for the alternative rock scene of the city between 1996 and 1997.
They were inclined by the name Litio (Lithium), which refers to an antidepressant pill taken by one of its founding members.
20 years later and still against the possibilities and the adversities, Superlitio is one of the most solid Colombian bands, respected and loved by a wide fanbase, that has seen them survive, transform and adapt to a musical industry that has been changing the rules of the game.
The band premieres its seventh production in studio with a concert of celebration of all these years, which are immortalized in this documentary, in which all the members who have passed through the band and their close friends, help narrating this ongoing adventure without a completion date.

Elkin Fabián Hernández is a director, writer and producer of fiction and documentary films and broadcast formats since 1997. His first feature-length documentary film "SALSA, ENDURANCE AND ROCK 'N' ROLL. 20 YEARS OF SUPERLITIO" (produced by Canal Trece (Colombia)) had its world premiere at Cine Tonalá (Bogotá) on December the 3rd of 2017. It has received some recognition at specialized local media. It has been broadcasted in Canal Trece, Colombia several times. Nominated to one India Catalina Award as Best Musical Direction, at TAL Awards 2018 as Best Documentary and it was part of the National Selection at MIDBO 2018. From 2000 to 2019 he has worked as a director, writer and head of content for recognized media Networks and Content House of Production in Colombia like Citytv, RCN Televisión, FOX Telecolombia, Señal Colombia, EFE and Discovery Networks.
The Documentary Salsa, Endurance and Rock 'N' Roll took more than 20 years to be made. And, although this statement may seem strange, one of the things that can be seen in the final result is the selection of some of the best images that exist of Superlitio as a group, even from its prehistory.
Something incredible that happened in this process of making the documentary was discovering how the band had accumulated a series of video material, made, in addition, by prominent Colombian filmmakers that had to do with the band and the Cali rock scene of the mid and late 1990s.
Likewise, in an arduous process of research and production, some close friends of the band gave us memories and material to tell a historical story as it should be.
But speaking of the production process as such, those of us who were in charge of taking this project forward were working approximately two months, which include the approach that Canal Trece had, in a conversation with Pedro Rovetto (bass player and band leader) about what was wanted to do with the documentary.
Then we were linked, both Director, Producer, Director of Photography and Editor and we started this trip, which has us very satisfied and proud because, like everything with Superlitio, we started to feel included and even part of the band, with a series of stories, told by their protagonists, in such a passionate way that we began to feel that we lived them with them.
