Sun Shower

Rainy day across Portland. Ken, a Vietnamese American who is a college student living in Portland, goes to a cafe to study. But unlike weather forecasts, it rains suddenly. Hae Su, a Korean exchanged student who works at the cafe, sees Ken in the rain and kindly gives her umbrella to him. The next day, Haesu drinks alcohol and catches uber while heading home afternoon. But suddenly rain occurs and she does not have umbrellas.

Director Statement

When I was walking to the downtown in Portland, I saw a man with an umbrella with a woman. Probably they are a couple or friend each other, but when I see that, it reminded me of an image. It was the image of a man giving an umbrella in front of a woman who was worried about having no umbrella. I wanted to put the scene in, so I came up with a very simple story, and it was 'Sun Shower.' The filming of the movie was very difficult. It didn't rain properly, and it was hard because I had to finish filming in two days. But eventually the movie was finished, and it was still meaningful that my first short film came out. I want to thank and speak to the producer, actor, and all the staff for helping me with my poor skills.
