Luca Cianfarani’s love affair with film began when he was a business student. As he honed his entrepreneurial acumen, he discovered his profound love for the art of visual storytelling. Realizing his true passion, he began creating music videos and short films with friends in the suburbs surrounding Toronto.
Now at 25 years old, Luca is an accomplished editor for the leading multicultural TV station in Canada, has worked with popular Youtube channels, and continues to create narrative pieces as a director, editor, cinematographer and producer.
Luca’s true calling is directing, he takes an auteurist approach to his projects, drawing inspiration from the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson, Federico Fellini, and other cinematic luminaries. Though he has a strong vision, he believes that the most impactful stories are those that are co-created. With an innate appreciation for collaboration, he delights in allowing others to lend their brush strokes to the canvas, ultimately bringing out a piece of art that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
Julian Daniel and I wanted to collaborate and create a project that combines our passions for music and film. With Sugar we create a world to be enjoyed and lived in through our different mediums. The film’s story is inspired by the themes in Julian’s EP, which touches on love, heartbreak, and finding your own way. Each song represents a development in the story. In that way, becoming a soundtrack to the film.
