Stupid Cupid | Season One
Four best friends seek to fix modern love with their new dating app. They're sent on a wild chase throughout New York when the app takes on a mind of its own, forcing them to look at their own failing love lives as they struggle to fix it.
The entire first season runs 47 minutes, but each of the seven episodes is 3-10 minutes in duration. We have included episodes 1-5 here, but are happy to edit the number of episodes needed for your festival.

A Russian-born writer and director, Yaroslav Altunin was raised in a family of dancers and classical musicians, opening the door to a career in the arts early in his life. After working with local filmmakers in Washington and Arizona on feature films, documentaries, and music videos, Yaroslav moved to Los Angeles to continue developing his career in film and television. With an English Literature degree from Arizona State University and an MFA in Screenwriting from the University of California, Los Angeles, Yaroslav's work focuses on character-driven stories set in grounded science-fiction worlds that explore humanity and existentialism.
I have always been intrigued by the evolution of dating. From Jane Austen to Say Anything and now Tinder. Our adventures in finding love, sex, or whatever lies in between are quite frankly the foundation of all stories.
Stupid Cupid is a story about just that. Dating and love in a millennial/GenZ world. Bon the dating experiences creator Sarah and her friends had in New York, I was inspired by the diversity, not only in the characters, but the kinds of love people are seeking.
We’re a far cry from Pride and Prejudice, and in the 2020’s, no two people want the same thing. Everything is a spectrum— sexual orientation, gender, and even love. I’m particularly proud of that concept within Stupid Cupid and hope that this story will give a voice to people who don’t fit a mold. The uniqueness of their expression is what gives them beauty, not the confines of a mold.
