Parisa Tavasoli is an Iranian filmmaker, director, and actor based in Tehran. She graduated in Cinema Directing from the University of Tehran and has worked on numerous short films, documentaries, and theater projects. Her work explores social, cultural, and artistic themes, often focusing on youth identity and contemporary life in Iran. Passionate about visual storytelling, Parisa draws inspiration from literature, photography, and music, aiming to connect Iranian stories with global audiences.
I created this documentary during my university years with minimal resources but a deep passion for storytelling. It captures the evolving reality of Iran’s young generation through the lens of Persian rap, a movement redefining modern Iranian culture.
The film offers a raw, honest look into a micro-culture that bridges art, protest, and identity. Persian rap today stands as a new form of Persian poetry and a dominant voice of youth expression.
Despite limitations, my passion for cinema and socio-cultural narratives pushed me to create this project. Inspired by Abbas Kiarostami, I believe in the transformative power of connecting with filmmakers worldwide to inspire change in both cinema and society.
