Still Life
On a split screen two parallel and contrasting narratives unfold. The world of art and the realm of the everyday are integrally connected and yet hugely disparate. A pair of hands working relentlessly inside a home fade away; while a painting hanging quietly in a museum gains fame.

Lara Jaydha is an animation filmmaker and visual artist from India. She completed her degree in Animation from Re:Anima European Joint Master program funded by the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in 2025. She specialises in 2D animation, exploring digital and analogue techniques. Through her work she creates poetic expressions of everyday experiences.
My film is a recognition and tribute to mundane moments and care work. By contrasting romanticized representation in ‘still lifeʼ paintings on one hand and ordinary reality in homes on the other, the film aims to bring forth unseen work and lives, which are often forgotten. Through this it explores the relationship between art and life, between fiction and documentary, raising questions of how ‘value’ is perceived in our society.
