Stephen Hawking’s Time Travel Party
Inspired by Stephen Hawking’s time-travel party, this short film intercuts documentary-style interview and fiction to explore time, and the possibility that if someone really showed up to Hawking’s time travel party, we would have no idea.

Caio Legname is a student filmmaker, writer, and photographer whose work explores perception, connection, and the human desire for connection. Across experimental and narrative forms, he creates films that place intimate experience against larger ideas, inviting audiences to notice what often goes unseen.
This short film is based on the story of Stephen Hawking's time travel party. I remember hearing him speak of it mostly as a joke, as if the entire premise was ludicrous. What fascinated me the most about it was that if anyone showed up, would we even know?
Rather than focusing on accurately portraying Hawking's physical appearance, I wanted to capture the story. At its core, this film is less about time travel and more about the human desire to be seen and remembered across time. Let's say that no one really showed up to Hawking's party. In that case, why even send out the invitations.
The simple answer: he wanted to be remembered.
Furthermore, this film demonstrates how little we know about people in power. All we know is this image that they show us -- it is impossible to know what is really going on behind the scenes.
