Director Statement

Step-Dog-Father is a product of the love my wife and I have for each other and our dog, Chip. Those touchstones remained at the heart of this tale throughout its evolution. I aimed to capture the most universal step-parent, step-child dynamics for our story. Primarily, a step-parent's uphill battle to earn the love and respect of a step-child. Playing up the juxtaposition of a senior-aged, grouchy, talking-dog as a step-son acting out against a new man of the house fueled my comedic inspiration. My intention was to create a bright, fun, family-friendly look and sound to drive home the feel-good vibes.
