MARY ZAPPULLA:
Mary has been producing Non-Scripted Television for over 20 years, beginning her career at MTV. She's currently a Showrunner, Director and an Executive Producer, Producing series for networks like Bravo, Netflix, TLC, Peacock, Magnolia, Food Network and more. She believes that with a good work ethic, kindness and a great attitude, any show or film can be an amazing experience!
Mary is the Director of "Stay at Home, Mom". She luckily met Candi after she moved out to South Orange with her two kids and they bonded over all things Motherhood at a babies music class. When Candi had the idea for this all to real, hilarious short, she jumped on board excited to bring this story to life.
Stay at Home, Mom is a surealist glance and how confining parenting can feel, and a fanciful look at what every mom wishes they could do sometimes, just escape.
The idea for the film came during the pandemic, when the writer, Candi was stuck home with her then 3yo and 7month old and would find respite by calling her best friend from the locked closet. Susan, a mother of 3 young ones herself, would sit on the other end of the call in the car in her garage. This is what parents were driven to for any semblance of escape from the onslaught that was parenting in the pandemic. We joked "what if we just walked out the door one day?" and so the idea emerged.
Although the pandemic is over, these themes are universal, and every parent who has seen the film relates deeply to it!
