Huang Yaoqi, a student majoring in animation from the class of 2023 at South China Agricultural University, is an animator and illustrator. Fascinated by science fiction from a young age, he was influenced by "The Wandering Earth" and the "My Three-Body" series during high school, prompting him to self-learn modeling and animation. He began to independently produce the long-form sci-fi animation "Dark Cloud," winning first prize in the National Secondary School Information Technology Competition in Guangdong Province, third prize in the preliminary round of the National Creative Writing Competition in Guangdong Province, and the second prize in the Aniwow Aspen Award from the Communication University of China. During the art exam, he achieved the 61st rank nationally for the Game Art major and 136th for Animation at the Communication University of China. In university, he developed a fascination with astrophysics and other cutting-edge scientific knowledge, starting to incorporate the connection between humans and the universe into his animations and illustrations. His independent animation work, "Star Valley," has been completed.
The history of human space exploration is full of ups and downs, but the dazzling stars above always manage to rekindle the spark in our hearts.
The StarValley is like a miniature of the whole world, just a dim speck in the vast universe. And as the universe keeps expanding and getting more chaotic, there's still this big mystery about life and philosophy that remains unsolved.
The point of life, I think, is to keep exploring. Whether it's a few generations down the line or multiple cycles of the universe, there will always be civilizations looking up at the sky, bravely searching for answers.
Ideas like Poincaré's return and Roger Penrose's soul theory give a whole new meaning to the stars in our world, like they have a soul and the power to push spaceships through the cosmos. It's like a united human civilization that will eventually launch into this amazing age of interstellar travel.
This animation is kind of my first real project since I started college, born from my love of sci-fi and a tiny little idea. I'm always thinking about life and the mysteries of the universe, and I wanted to share that perspective. So here's the Valley of the Glowing Stars. I'd love to hear what you all think!
So ,Per aspera ad astra!
