Oppenheimer is an independent filmmaker from NYC. Her work focuses on fandom and pop culture.
She created the Replacements documentary Color Me Obsessed,
Her brainchild, The Squee Project is an ongoing series of short films dealing with underrepresented voices in nerd culture, She frequently brings screenings and panels to comic conventions, libraries and classrooms to discuss "The Female Gaze". She recently produced SqueeCon which featured performances, vendors, a film festival, cosplayers. and nerd karaoke. The Project functions as a collective of female identifying creators supporting and promoting each others work. He latest film is the feature All Hail the Popcorn King about writer Joe R Lansdale. She is currently in Pre-Production on a Splatter punk documentary with writer John Skipp.
Her most recent short is a tribute to Joe Bob Briggs with fans and colleagues weighing in on his contributions to pop culture, drive-in and independent cinema.
If there’s any one bit of advice I can give aspiring creators, it’s don’t wait. Don’t wait for inspiration, the right crew, the fancy gear, the money, the time. Just make what you can now. I wish I had learned that earlier. The last 2 yrs I’ve made 79 videos. Some of them are even pretty darn good.
