Léopold Belanger is a short film and documentary director deeply inspired by far-off lands and its people. Long based in Myanmar, he directed documentary series for local TV always with the need to put forward the geographical diversity, the rich history and the people’s fascinating stories. Director Statement

While living in Myanmar, a country I consider a second home, I have seen some of the significant changes it has been through in the 2010s which were marked by an important opening to the outside world. For long isolated, the country has seen its traditions shaken by foreign cultures and movements from around the world while its very conventional educational system never really changed. But what happens when a young kid decides to break from that and follow his passion; leading years later to an uprising among younger generations. This film is a tribute to youth, the nonchalance and the spirit of freedom that animate those early years of our life. But its also a homage to that silent strength of the old age and the open-mindedness of a man who seize the importance for each kid to follow his dream.
