Special Jimmy

Inspired by a true event, this short film, directed by Cho Jun Ming, depicts the inner struggles faced by Jimmy, a troubled teenager who hears voices other people do not hear, believing others are plotting to harm him. He shares his thoughts with his father and Theresa, a trusted friend who stands by him. The boundaries between reality and imagination become blurred when Jimmy's schoolmates showed him a video recording of him speaking to himself. Is Theresa just a figment of his imagination? Is his encounter with his father part of reality?

Director Biography

Cho Jun Ming is a self-taught passionate filmmaker whose passion is to create a positive impact through inspiring films which inculcate social meaningful messages. He was Conferred as the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Of The World Singapore Merit in 2018 for cultural achievements by the junior chamber international and is also the youngest awardee among the recipients, some of his films received nominations in international film festivals and his film was awarded the Singapore most popular audience choice award silver recently this year 2019 for his microfilm organised by national arts council which tells the story of racial harmony in Singapore.
Appearing in many local news interviews/videos and featured articles about his backstory on how he manage to transform his lives from struggles and setbacks into making a positive change to the community through his experiences, he hopes to do proud for his country, Singapore, in the media industry.

Society often portrays people suffering from mental health issues as someone who is a high threat to them as if they are sort of random attackers and did not pay much attention or to truly care about individuals who are suffering from mental health but sometimes all these people needs is a simple care and concern from the community and to pay extra attention to them in aiding them to recover from their specific health issues.
