Soulless
Soulless unfolds in the fictional town of Bell's End, a place with a curse hanging over it since its 1700 founding. After a young woman, Pertreena, is killed in a car accident, her body goes missing en route to the hospital. Days later she is discovered behind a local hotel, alive. As she struggles to come to terms with being trapped between worlds, the town people are thrown into chaos in search of her body. The chief of police becomes obsessed with the event, fearing the town's retribution due to a previous unsolved case.
Meanwhile, word of her reanimation gets back to the DOD, where decades earlier, a failed covert research project on tissue regeneration was conducted on Pertreena's mother. The DOD becomes obsessed with finding her and launches a relentless effort to capture Pertreena at all costs deploying undercover operatives to Bell's End. Pertreena quickly learns that trying to return to the land of the living threatens to destroy the people she loves most.

It was such a pleasure working with an All Arizona cast and crew in the production of Soulless. The final casting resulted from over 175 auditions from which we chose our final ensemble. As a director, seeing your cast interpret their roles with authenticity brings a level of artistic satisfaction to a project. It was especially rewarding having women represented at all levels of our production, from producer, to lead role and supporting cast, and to those working behind the camera such as cinematographer and PAs, as Soulless tried to break down some of the legacy gender barriers.
Also, like many independent films, finding the right locations that support the story can be challenging. This was especially true for Soulless, given that it takes place in more of a New England locale. As such, care was taken in scouting the right spots for each scene including renting houses in an historic district featuring architecture that resembled more east coast styles.
The final production highlighted the incredible talent that exists in our indie film community.
