Director Statement

I want viewers of ROSWELL REVISITED "From wacko to serious to fun" to feel their funny bones being tickled while puzzling over the mysteries of space. There are some silly moments and some serious discussions, too.

My cameraman Carl Winston and I parachuted into Roswell without a script, not knowing who we would meet or what we would discover. (Carl invented the humorous ending before we'd even begun the interviews).

Working with editor David Hudkins we found a sense of wackiness and wonder with the thoughtful and nutty people we interviewed. Hudkins fine-tuned the scenes , leaving a brief pause between each one, as if 'turning the page.'

This is truly a tiny-budget film. Expenses totaled $1,500. Of that amount, $500 went to editing and special effects. The remainder was for motel, car rental and airfare. We used old school DV video tape technology, later converted to digital. Principal photography including all interviews was completed during one hot day, with temps upwards of 100 degrees.

"Thanks for sending me this short documentary. I enjoyed it - a nice mix of material. You really captured the atmosphere of the 75th anniversary festival at Roswell. Any interview with Barbara Beck adds value to this project, for sure. And I love your humorous ending!"
