I've been a horror fan since I was 11 years old. The genre invokes some of my favorite stories, characters, and allegories about our fears... but I'm the first one to admit: 90% of horror movies are TERRIBLE! They're poorly written, cheaply made, and are usually focused on trying to be scary rather than compelling...
I want to change that. I want to make SMART horror movies.
My latest short film was inspired by something Christopher Nolan said about one my favorite films of his, "Inception," in that it originally started as a horror movie but turned into a heist film. As much as I love "Inception," I REALLY wanted to see the horror version! The idea of visiting somebody else's nightmare really intrigued me.
I wanted to make a film that was ambitious and didn't focus on just trying to be scary. With the help of close friends and half a dozen crew members, we shot the film in 4 days with only $12k and left nothing on the table in our efforts. Our goal is to not only showcase our talents as filmmakers, but to inspire horror fans to demand better from the genre. I hope you enjoy the film as much as we enjoyed making it!
