Something From Nothing
The passion for "making something from nothing" is the creative fuel that drives Dave Semple in all of his pursuits. His creativity seems to have no bounds: he is a guitar player, singer-songwriter, novelist, poet, theatre actor and director, and a high school English and Drama teacher. Oh yes, and he also makes guitars!

Colin Field:
Colin is an independent filmmaker based in Southern Ontario. After successful careers as a teacher and as a pioneer in learning technologies for major corporations, he now focuses on his passion for storytelling through filmmaking. He recently completed the Advanced Filmmaking program at Fanshawe College where he helped to create several award-winning films and was also the recipient of the Outstanding Student Achievement Award. He also directed and produced an award-winning film for the Forest City Film Festival's 48 Hour Film Challenge. In 2022, Colin founded Albireo Films, a small production company that currently has several short films in development and production. Colin’s other creative pursuits include nature photography, song writing, and clawhammer banjo.
Chris Ebel:
Raised in Acton Ontario, Chris first found his love of video production all the way back in middle school where he would make Lego stop motion movies in his free time. His passion truly flourished in high school where he was able to spend all four years taking video production classes. Eventually he ended up at Fanshawe College where he completed the Advanced Filmmaking Program. Chris aspires to become a production designer for feature films.
Luke Smith:
Born and raised in Markham, ON, Luke has always had a passion towards filmmaking. Starting in high school, his passion for photography turned into shooting and editing short videos such as music videos and Claymation stop motion. As a Broadcasting student at Fanshawe College, Luke created many projects including commercials, music videos, and short narratives. He continued in the post graduate Advanced Filmmaking Program to learn and advance his skills in the film industry. Luke's other interests include photography, Photoshop editing, skateboarding, fashion, and creating digital music.
We thought we were going to make a film about guitar making, but we learned through the documentary process that the film was really about creativity itself, and how Dave Semple personifies that magic.
