Logline:
Separated by war, Olia and Kost fight to keep their family together — she in safety, he on the front line — until one night changes everything.
Synopsis:
Olia and Kost, a young couple from Kherson, are separated by the war. She leaves the occupied city with their little son, while he serves as a sniper on the front line. Their fragile sense of family survives only through short phone calls — each ring a lifeline, proof that Kost is still alive.
In the Carpathian Mountains, Olia builds a fragile everyday for her son, but her calm is pierced when Kost’s voice suddenly falls silent.

"Someday, you`ll undestand everything - The Ukrainian Story of Hope" is a poetic film about a modern Ukrainian family caught in the whirlwind of war. No distance can make us forget a loved one who is still fighting. No walls can shield us from the burning pain of separation—a feeling that simultaneously sustains and wounds.
Behind every soldier is the silence of their loved ones, the pause of childhood, the quiet of the kitchen after a phone call. All that remains is the waiting, a voice, a memory, the feeling of a touch from a dear person...
This is a story about all of us—free people. A quiet reminder that we are strong when we are together—like a true family.
War and occupation promise us one cruel word: "never." But the love for the world we are defending, the faith in each other, the hope for reunification and justice give us another word—tender and poignant, like a quiet promise: "one day."
This film is the second part of the future almanac "Home to Each Other"—a manifesto of hope, an artistic form of honoring the memory and feat of free people. It contains 12 stories, 12 commemorative dishes traditionally prepared in Ukraine for the joyous holiday of Christmas. Twelve points of shared pain, memory, dignity, and strength.
"Someday, you`ll undestand everything - The Ukrainian Story of Hope" is dedicated to Kherson. It is a story of love, loss, and waiting—the kind of waiting that both breaks and heals. A story about a family that survived the occupation, and about a connection that endures even after the most devastating phone call.
After February 24th, we found out who we truly are. This film is a thank you to everyone who is defending the Light today.
