Director Statement

Some Girl is a film about hidden violence—and its impact. The story was loosely inspired by an anecdote in Promiscuities: The Secret Struggle for Womanhood, which underscores the importance of women seeing their experiences honestly reflected in culture.

I was drawn to the culture surrounding violence—the denial, rationalization, and silence that allow it to persist. Rather than focusing on a single act, the film explores how violence can operate invisibly through social pressure, minimization, and complicity, eroding our connection to ourselves and one another.
