The Gallery
An elite, private art exhibit holds dark secrets to the origins of its work and its artists. Where inspiration comes at a high price, the guest list is short at The Gallery.

Manny Duran has been making films since 1994. In college, he wrote a short story for his creative writing course, then by some random encounter with another classmate, he was talked into making his short story a short film. He pulled together two actors and someone who knew 8 mm cameras and directed a short film over weekends for the next few months. When shown to an audience, during the applause he received, he leaned over to his best friend and shouted "I think I just figured out what I want to do with the rest of my life." He was hooked.
Over the years, Manny has also mastered the art of being a Key Grip. The art of shadow and light, camera movement, and when NOT to move. He's been involved in many big-budget projects including Marvel shows, as well as independent films, including the Oscar-winning film The Artist. It's his pleasure to help facilitate his knowledge of filmmaking to help others projects worthwhile and successful. As a director, he loves the collaborative process and working with actors to create a character and story that pulls people into the film. That for him, is everything.
I felt compelled to make this movie based on an idea I had years ago when filming in an old abandoned building, and on this one particular floor, stumbled across all these half-done paintings and artwork. The whole space was in disarray, and frightening - it felt like I was being watched. I never shook that terror and wanted to capture that feeling of not having control over my feelings or sometimes my own safety. This is what led to me making "The Gallery".
