Smoking in Circles
In a gritty odyssey of self-discovery, meet a rebellious lady with a cigarette in hand, who challenges the very essence of identity. As this "lady" confronts the absurdity of coherence, and the futility of rebellion, you'll be captivated by her unapologetic attitude and raw charm. Join her on her rollercoaster of wit and wisdom, only to find that more often than not, the most profound journeys lead you right back where you started.

Sammy Girl is a Lebanese goofball reluctantly raised in Modesto, CA. Upon realizing she could in fact “have a dream”, as it were, she thought that the only path that made any sense to follow for someone who was interested in everything from funky dance moves to the ethics of genetic engineering was film- since a film can be about anything, made in any way. A knowledge butterfly’s dream! Since moving to LA in 2019, she has been writing and infiltrating film school friend groups- constantly surrounding herself with weirdos/collaborators who love the craft and believe in the power of a good film as much as she does. She currently serves as a nonfiction ghostwriter by day, maniacal filmmaker by night, weirdo in all lights.
Hello world!!! But mostly you ;) I’m excited to share my films- what a wonderful thing it is to get the weird mumbo jumbo from inside your brain onto a screen, it’s the best thing in the entire world. I hope to meet friends, collaborators, fellow silly geese, and whoever else who will give me the time of day on my pursuit towards making art, and mostly making people stop- shake their jar of marbles, throw them back out and look at the details of their lives in a new light.
