Small Monuments
Five teenagers explore the stories behind the Stolpersteine (memorial stones) in their town of Bad Saarow in Brandenburg during confirmation classes. With these stones, the town commemorates some of the more than 280 Jews who were disenfranchised, expelled, and murdered during the Nazi era. The young people visit and clean the stones, read the fates of those remembered, and talk to committed citizens who take care of the small monuments.
The film explores a dialogue between generations and a lively approach to history.
