Director Statement

I've always been a fan of the horror genre. As such, Sleep Tight has been a passion project of mine for many years, with the idea for the short originating during my second year at Nottingham Trent University, after conducting research into the worldwide urban legend of "The Boogeyman," a creature that allegedly abducts children and hides under their beds.

Sleep Tight ultimately went into production in May 2022, during my final year of university at the then-named Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in Nottingham, where the short film served as my final-year project. Due to other commitments of mine, the final edit of the project wasn't completed until the tail-end of 2022. Nevertheless, I am pleased with how the project turned out as I feel the short film is an effective, concise horror story with enthralling underlying themes of grief, resentment and familial love. - Joe Baker
