Drawing on a background in music and post-production, Chris May creates meditative audiovisual art. His colorful, sinuous forms paired with dreamlike sounds, aim to create a holistic sensory experience.
Recent projects include the EP "Sleep Chamber" and the startup sound for the Xbox One X console.
Inspired since childhood by Ron Fricke’s time-lapse films (Chronos, Baraka), video artist Chris May seeks ways to portray stories through visuals and soundtrack alone. Drawing on his career as a video editor, his process starts with creating a visual thematic. Shortly after, original music begins to take shape inspired by the in-progress shots. Colors and movements translate into instrumentation and textures, and the resulting music often takes the visual arc in unexpected directions. The ultimate goal is to strike a compelling interplay between sound and image.
