Skate Spectrum: a documentary about autism and skateboarding
In the winter of 2021 a Belgian mother 3 children with autism decides to teach skateboarding to children on the autism spectrum. This documentary follows them from the outset over the summer of 2022 and shows their and their parents' experiences.
This 30 minute documentary shows how these young children engage in this chaotic sport, as they redefine what it means to be a skater in 2022/23 while being redefined by it as well. Boosting confidence, channeling emotions and reshaping family dynamics, skateboarding turns out to be very meaningful in their lives. A warm and playful tribute to the power of play and not taking the easy way out.
