Writer, director and producer Sean Green experiments in different art mediums, film being his latest endeavor. Sean got married in 1998 and had a son soon after. He is a lover of fiction books which inspired him to start writing short. long stories. scripts and poetry. Classic writers like Edgar Allen Poe, Washington Irving, H. G. Welles, and more contemporary writers like George Orwell, Stephen King and Stan Lee are some of his biggest influences. He moved from state to state (including Florida in 1971)growing up with film and TV as a big part of his entertainment. Sean finally settling down in Sarasota, Florida in 1994.
I wanted to push the envelope of the original story to include elements of Alfred Hitchcock's implied scenes and the original story of Ed Gein's horrific exploits. David Cronenberg's 1988 reimagining of Bette Davis' 1964 movie "Dead Ringers" with the genders flipped may have influenced my choice to change the Norman Bates' to the female character, Nora; as well as a reimagining of a plot scenario that has no boundaries. Originally all to be filmed in black and white with a 1990's 8mm camera, that choice soon became problematic. But some of the best performances had already been filmed early on with the Sony 8mm. Initially supposed to be a 2 minute fake movie trailer, "Sister Psycho" gain traction when Stephanie Kirves read the short screenplay and offered to help produce the film. Shooting started in October of 2022 and finished in September of 2023.
Watching "Sister Psycho" feels like your watching a 1960's interview with a mentally disturbed young lady. The black and white cinematography is so, that you're somewhere between watching a Hollywood movie like "Psycho" and the more independent film "Night of the Living Dead". About 15% of the movie is filmed with a Sony 8mm camcorder and the whole movie was filmed in Sarasota, Florida.
About 1999 I rented the Vince Vaughn movie Psycho and was disappointed with only a reenactment of the original movie. It inspired me to write a more imaginative plot scenario and "Sister Psycho was born.
