The Singing Telegram

An aspiring singer is stuck delivering singing telegrams to make ends meet. Blinded by his desire to succeed, he risks losing the one part of his life he needs most...until a surprise telegram changes his perspective.

With a loving nod to the New York of Nora Ephron, this funny and heart-warming film is a rom-com for 2023. Featuring a queer love-story at its core, this contemporary, musical take on the genre will make your heart...sing.

Based on writer Eddie Grey's real-life experience of operating a singing telegram company in New York after moving there from Australia, the film finds its protagonist Matt at a crossroads where he learns the path to happiness is not to seek more, but to embrace all the good he already has.

As filmmakers, we share our stories hoping people will feel changed after they hear them, particularly those in groups not often represented in media and entertainment who need to know their experiences are not occurring in a void.

Connection is a major theme of the film and of life right now, particularly as so many of us are relearning to connect with society. FOMO or 'fear of missing out' is a phenomenon many of us struggle with in this age of social media.

The Singing Telegram speaks to this, as our protagonist learns one way to ensure he will stay unhappy is to be always seek the next best thing.
