Silver lining

Young, professional, and successful, Zoe and Boyd, a medical doctor, desperately want to have a baby. She is in her third pregnancy, and the family is doing everything possible to see Zoe successfully deliver, but she has a third miscarriage, while being hesitant to tell the family. Lubanji, Zoe's old best friend who is fleeing for stealing money from her ruthless fience, seeks Boyd's assistance in delivering the baby she is carrying so that she can sell it to some old woman, but Zoe instead begs Boyd to buy the child from her when it is born while she pretends to be pregnant.
Everything appears to be fine until Lubanji is abducted by her fiancé on the day of her delivery.

Director Biography - Emmanuel Mwape

Emmanuel Mwape "Chungu" (Born March 18, 1991) is a Zambian film-maker who is a Multi-choice Talent Factory Alumni and multi-award winning film-maker with diverse experience in the production of fiction and non-fiction films.

He is passionate about telling stories that communicate to various communities. Born in a family of four in the slums of Misisi compound and attended his secondary school from The Kamwala Secondary School. He is well-known for the production of a feature film “SAUL”, Award winning short films “Confession” and “Zambian Cab which boosts of five awards in Best Short documentary at different festivals, among them is Moja Italia Festival in Italy and Zambia’s most travelled short film to international festivals called “Sex” among his recent works he worked on is “The Painting” an AMVCA nominated film, Uncle Limbani comedy drama series which he took in the role of Director of Photography, both commissioned produced by m-net and Videographer of the “World Alumni Link! Conference 2021. His recent films are Saving Chalo and Helping Chalo films that centre on tobacco harm reduction.

His movies have mainly been themed on urban crimes, Social problems and beliefs.

Director Statement

The film "Silver lining" as a character-driven drama exploring themes of love, loss, and desperation. The story follows Zoe and Boyd, a couple desperate for a child, who make difficult decisions when faced with fertility struggles. Zoe's old friend, Lubanji, seeks Boyd's help in delivering her baby, which she plans to sell, and the film navigates the moral dilemmas that arise. The statement emphasizes the film's exploration of family, friendship, and the lengths people go for those they love.
