Ka Wee Teong is a Malaysian filmmaker and content creator with a deep-rooted passion for storytelling through the lens of horror. Born and raised in Malaysia, he pursued a Bachelor of Art in 3D Animation & VFX in Auckland, New Zealand. Since 2016, Ka Wee has been actively creating content on YouTube, including cinematic vlogs, storytelling series, travel documentaries, podcasts, low-budget music videos, and short films. Though he never attended film school, Ka Wee developed his filmmaking skills through years of hands-on experience and self-learning online. His fascination with the horror genre began in primary school and has since shaped his creative direction. His ultimate goal is to direct a feature-length horror film. Silent Witness represents a culmination of his personal vision and DIY filmmaking approach—crafted with minimal resources, but driven by a love for suspense, mood, and raw emotional tension.
Silent Witness was born from a childhood memory that never quite left me. I’ve always been drawn to found footage horror films like Creep, As Above, So Below, Paranormal Activity, and V/H/S—stories that feel raw, intimate, and disturbingly real. When I was younger, a friend once showed me a leaked video online—something we were definitely not supposed to be watching. My curiosity got the better of me, and I asked for a peek. What I saw traumatized me. That experience became the seed for this film.
At its core, Silent Witness is about the danger of curiosity—the idea that some things are better left unseen. We live in a world where access to the darkest corners of the internet is just a click away, and yet we rarely consider the emotional consequences. “Curiosity killed the cat” has never felt more true.
Making this short wasn’t easy. I was juggling school, a tight budget, and limited hands on set. A lot of ideas had to be scaled down or cut entirely. But I embraced the limitations and leaned into what I could control: mood, tension, and storytelling. This film is a product of passion, resourcefulness, and a story that haunted me for years.
