Mikael Trench is an Atlanta-based stop motion filmmaker who currently runs TriClops Films, a boutique stop motion and mixed media animation studio based in Atlanta, GA. Along with having a hand in stop motion projects for clients such as American Girl, Turner Classic Movies, Hot Wheels, Jurassic World, and more, his short films such as "The Tree That Refused to Fall," "To Love a Ladybug," and "Silent Night" have gone on to be screened at or win awards from such events as the Spotlight Short Film Awards, the Atlanta Horror Film Festival, the Mosaic World Film Festival, the Hollywood South Urban Film Festival, and the New York Animation Awards to name a few.
Silent Night came into being after a failed effort to try getting a bigger short film project off the ground over the summer of 2022. The production didn't have too any bells and whistles attached to it, but the film was nevertheless able to expand and evolve in ways I wasn't expecting. The result is a film that has grown to have a special place in my heart as possibly the most personal project I have created so far. It is the start of a short film trilogy and I am excited to see where the saga goes from here.
