Stephen Mallinder: Shock to the Body
Reality needs fact police. Panopticon. Shock to the body drop. As it moves, it feels.
A sepia-toned display of stop-motion animated elements – vintage musical instruments and quixotic bits of detritus as well as glimpses of Mallinder himself – provide a loosely allusive iconography for the critically lauded beat-driven track.
The animation for Shock to the Body is composed of thousands of hand-crafted collages on individual sheets of black paper.

Tulipomania's creations have been categorized as ‘cult synth punk,' ‘glam-leaning,' ‘postpunk,' and ' ‘art-rock'. While they enjoy deciphering efforts to categorize their aesthetic, Tom Murray and Cheryl Gelover decline to offer a specific label of their own.
The two animators/musicians first met in Art school, and found themselves collaborating on projects for Experimental Film and Animation classes –Tulipomania grew along with those experiences.
Described as “artistic and inventive” and “gorgeous,” music videos created by Tulipomania have been featured in film festivals worldwide, including the London Short Film Festival (England), Leeds International Film Festival (England), Aesthetica Short Film Festival (York, England), Encounters (Bristol,England), Zubroffka (Poland), AniFilm (Liberec, Czech Republic) and StopTrik (Croatia, Poland).
A complete list of festival screenings is available on request.
Tulipomania are thrilled to have created two animated music videos for Cabaret Voltaire co-founder/frontman Stephen Mallinder – an iconic electronic musical artist whom they have long admired. Both videos were created in support of Mallinder's second solo release, "tick tick tick".
