Director Biography - Jela Okpara

An eighties baby, hailing from Philadelphia, with roots in Washington D.C. Jela began "writing and directing" his own movies as flip-book action scenes on post-it notepads after surviving a gunshot wound to the chest at the age of twelve.

Primarily a genre content creator writing and directing projects in the realm of sci-fi, action, fantasy, and horror, Jela's 2012 proof of concept short THE LAST GIRL won him Audience Choice Award on the festival circuit building buzz for the feature version THE LAST GIRL ON EARTH.

In 2016, he wrote, directed, and produced a horror-comedy pilot entitled, SPOOK HUNTERS starring Gerald 'Slink' Johnson (Adult Swim's BLACK JESUS & BET'S MAN CAVE) that follows a group of African American Ghost Hunters.

And in the fall of 2017 he produced his first feature, PERFECTLY SINGLE staring Omar Gooding (Smart Guy and Baby Boy), Gerry Bednob (The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Zack and Miri Make a Porno), Torrie Hart and an ensemble cast which is slated for a 2018 summer release.
