Sheryl Jenkins is an independent animation director and producer, and participatory artist. She studied Animation at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design and Northumbria University. Her animated work has been showcased at various animation and film festivals, and in museums and galleries.
She was part of the creative team behind award-winning, arts education website, Culture Street.
Sheryl works with traditional animation techniques including drawn, cut-out and stop motion, and combines with digital drawing.
Her practice includes residencies, independent productions, community projects, commercial film, and content for theatre and television. She has worked with a large number of practitioners from a wide range of art forms including dance, creative writing, visual arts, theatre and music.
Her animated work has been showcased at various events and spaces including Animated Exeter, Berlin Festival of Animation, Sunderland Shorts Film Festival, Southbank Centre, MiCE Film Festival Vientiane International Film Festival, Animex, Durham Cathedral, Animafest Zagreb, Flip Animation Festival and Skopelos International Film Festival for Youth.
She recently completed a period of independent, professional development with Aardman animation studio. She is currently involved in the National Theatre’s nationwide schools’ project, Speak Up.
