Director Statement

In my newest short horror film, I draw from a lifetime of supernatural encounters that have shaped both my understanding of fear and my passion for storytelling. The film is deeply personal, emerging from a collection of real-life experiences that have haunted and fascinated me for as long as I can remember. From the poltergeists that plagued my childhood home to the ghostly presences at my family’s 200-year-old restaurant, I have lived through a spectrum of eerie and unsettling phenomena.

This particular story stands out as the most chilling and enigmatic of them all. It is not merely a tale of a ghostly apparition, but a deeply unsettling journey into the unknown, grounded in the eerie reality of what I experienced, along with two other witnesses. My goal with this film is to share not just a horror story, but a piece of my own reality—one that resonates with anyone who has ever been haunted—and combine that with two intertwined love stories.

In this short horror film, I explore a personal and transformative narrative that blends the supernatural with profound emotional growth. The story centers around a ghostly presence that confronts the lead character with the stark realities of loss while simultaneously guiding him through his deepest fears about commitment by showing him her own loss. But is it for her gain or his betterment? My decision to take this route was only strengthened when the actual ghost’s engagement ring serendipitously found its way into our story and literally onto our set (which is another crazy story in itself).

Drawing from all my encounters with the supernatural, I aimed to craft a film that goes beyond traditional horror. Instead of simply eliciting fear, this film delves into the emotional and psychological aspects of facing one’s vulnerabilities. The ghost in our story is not just a spectral figure, but a powerful symbol of loss—a force that challenges the protagonist to confront his past and his anxieties about the future.

By blending real-life experiences with a supernatural narrative, I hope to create a film that not only thrills, but also touches the heart. It’s about finding hope and strength through the most unexpected encounters and realizing that the things we fear might just be the very things that help us grow.

Sharing this story has been a fulfilling endeavor. Thus far, it has resonated with many people along the creative journey. Everyone has their own story, or at the very least, a curiosity about what might lie beyond the veil of our understanding. Through this film, I aim to tap into that universal intrigue and invite viewers to confront their own fears and fascinations with the supernatural.

This project is more than just a film for me; it is a way to connect with others who have walked similar paths or who harbor a curiosity about the mysteries of the supernatural. I hope that by sharing this haunting tale, I can create a space where people feel both the thrill of the unknown and the comforting embrace of shared experience.
