It all started with the ammunition given to me by Sir J. J. School of Applied Arts in the year 1999. Armed with a BFA degree, I started off as an excited, aspiration driven professional at the age of 23 in the Y2K year of 2000. In the competitive world, I grey to be an Art Director early on in one of India’s leading advertising agencies, before taking a leap to pursue my dream career of innovative and specialist Art and Painting.
In a short span of 5 years, my unique and multi-dimensional contemporary work has
garnered admirers from around the globe, from Bollywood celebrities and socialites to the corporate bigwigs to the country’s renowned politicians.
They say, art can transform any surface into an art masterpiece, which is what I wanted to explore. I had no such preferred surface to express my style of art, but over time I knew what was my go-to surfaces. As an emerging artist, I got my first solo exhibition in 2003 titled ‘Touchwood series’ which was art on/with wood. This was quickly followed by Touchwood 2 in 2004. My next was “innovator” wherein I got to celebrate the spirit of innovation, I etched some “Men of Mettle” using mix-media on metal surfaces. My solo Art Show titled “Me v/s Myself” was an artistic manifestation of the internal struggle of the mind – the conscious versus the sub-conscious. Once again, the opus crafted by me set against a contemporary backdrop of a man’s struggle with himself drew accolades from the world.
Interestingly, I had delved into the world of cinema, where my skills have been utilized by producers like the Bhatt’s in their recent releases – Raaz and Tum Mile.
Today, I am set to explore new dimensions in paintings and exploring newer frontiers of the canvas. This time, my medium is your mind and eyes. Using a unique style that plays with light, and how a viewer perceives light I seek to draw you into a multidimensional world that I have created on a two dimensional canvas. The paintings delve into the lives of multi-faceted personalities by adding a 3 rd dimension to the painting. These paintings are best viewed with a naked eye and an open mind.
As if the 2d static canvas was not enough, I have also ventured into the moving pictures canvas, the film. I have a huge passion for animation and video graphics.
I recently made a video for the ailing world, on “Warriors of Covid-19” which quickly
became viral and got shared by everyone’s loved influencer (on twitter) Shri Amitabh
Bachchan Sir. Following this (and being in a nationwide lockdown) I got a chance to create one more film on a similar line that was shared and appreciated by none other than shree Uddhav Thackeray the current chief minister of Maharashtra, and shared on most local TV channels. This new moving canvas is giving me newer challenges that I have excitedly accepted. Whether I will succeed or not, I do not know, but it is a fun challenge set to be conquered. The world of moving graphic design, videos and animation.
