Sex Positive
DCP AvailableSex Positive dives into the hidden world of human desire, asking a simple question: why are so many people ashamed of what turns them on? Featuring experts, researchers, adult entertainers, and everyday people, the documentary explores the science, psychology, and culture behind modern sexuality, revealing that many so-called “taboos” are far more common—and more accepted—than we think.

Sex Positive began as an exploration of shame. Inspired by a book about people who felt isolated or judged for their private desires, I wanted to understand why so many of us carry the fear that there’s something fundamentally wrong with who we are.
But as we spoke with psychologists, physicians, researchers, adult performers, sex workers, and everyday people willing to share their stories, the film began to change. Again and again, we found that the things people were most ashamed of were often simply part of the vast spectrum of human experience. The real damage wasn’t caused by desire itself—it was caused by secrecy, stigma, and the fear of being judged.
This documentary isn’t about telling people what they should believe or how they should live. It’s about replacing shame with understanding and creating space for honest conversations about identity, intimacy, and acceptance. If the film leaves audiences with one idea, it’s this: maybe the parts of ourselves we’ve been taught to hide aren’t something to be ashamed of after all, they’re just part of being human.
